The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

BJP’s Raghavjibhai Hansrajbhai Patel defeated AAP’s Prakash Dhirubhai Donga by 47,500 votes in Jamnagar Rural assembly seat in Jamnagar district. BJP candidate got 79,439 votes while AAP got 31,939 votes here. BSP remained third on this seat. Its candidate Kasam Nurmamad Khafi got 29,162 votes, which was 17.91 percent of the total votes. That is, Khafi was successful in saving his bail. The fourth-placed Congress candidate could not even save his deposit. Congress’s Jeevanbhai Ahir got only 18,737 votes, which was just 11.51 per cent of the total votes. Apart from Areeh, the deposits of two other candidates were also forfeited. 2,285 voters of Jamnagar Rural pressed the NOTA button.

Apart from 2017, Congress had won from here in 2012 as well. In 2007, the BJP candidate had won here, while in 2002, the Congress had captured the Jamnagar Rural seat.
